Grizzly Creek Ranch is a rare and highly scenic 1,945± acre block of deeded land that lies virtually contiguous to Yellowstone National Park northwest of Gardiner, Montana and about a 45 minute drive south of Livingston. The property lies at the head of Tom Miner Basin, which is an absolutely spectacular private tributary valley to the Yellowstone River. The ranch offers a multitude of small-to-mid-size dwellings that include some original "homestead" cabins that offer guests the opportunity to escape. The main residence is a 3,816 sq.ft., two-story home of log construction built in 1991. The home is spatially comfortable with a substantial rock fireplace dominating the main living area off of the kitchen.

Adjacent to the main residence is a 950-sq.ft. outbuilding, which was fully converted into a yoga studio complete with a massage room. Also located within the main compound is a log sided 1,440 sq.ft. manager's house constructed in 1996. The house includes four bedrooms and two baths, and is heated by a wood-burning stove and electric heat. Various adjacent buildings are also available for rent within the property of the ranch.  [Photos and information provided via e-mail by Adam York]

Contemporary Art Gallery in France With an Odd Facade: Gue(ho)st House

Artists Christophe Berdaguer and Marie PĂ©jus revamped the facade of a building in Delme, a village located in North-Eastern France.  Entitled Gue(ho)st House, the new structure (part of a property belonging to the Centre d'art Contemporain-La Synagogue de Delme) serves as a gallery, studio and event space. The unusual name of the futuristic project was inspired by artist Marcel Duchamp's wordplay project: A Guest + A Host = A Ghost and pays tribute to the prior functions of the building- prison, school and funeral home.

The two designers revamped the existing structure by employing thick white layers of polystyrene, resulting in original exterior walls, with seemingly liquid features. With the objective of creating “a veritable architectural phantasmagoria”, the artists envisioned a project  in tune with modern trends, yet exuding a strong personality. Different and surprising no matter what the standpoint, the new studio/exhibition space will probably soon become an interesting exhibit itself for tourists across France. How would you comment on its architecture?

Bright Breezy House With Powerful Sculptural Volumes

Outdoor Mexico House1 Bright Breezy House With Powerful Sculptural Volumes

The FF House, located in Zapopan, Mexico, has been recently completed by the architectural firm Hernandez Silva Arquitectos. Playing with volumes and mixing concrete and wood, the architects developed an interesting residential project. Betting on the integration of natural elements, their intention was to create a breezy indoor gateway. The living room area displays an amazingly high ceiling, providing more space. Parts of the walls are replaced with glass, creating a transparent effect in order to display a wider view upon the turf. The entrance is connected to the living room by a flat water surface. The furnishing is poor in bold colours. A palette of neutral colours seemed more appropriate to create a shelter that focuses on the importance of bringing shades of natural elements inside the house, than a bright vivid exposure of colours.

The dinning room area is connected to a small and discrete kitchen. Nicely space-like shaped chairs embellish this area, unveiling a very contemporary look. A surprising grass layer can be admired while passing through a narrow long corridor. Basically a transparent piece of glass has replaced the lower part of the wall,  bringing it closer to your visual proximity. By playing with volumes and shapes, the architects managed to create a beautiful home, emphasizing the need of indoor plants to create a breezy and lively atmosphere.

Welcoming Ranco House in Chile Showcasing Charming Rustic Details

Ranco House Elton Lienz 1 Welcoming Ranco House in Chile Showcasing Charming Rustic Details

Elton+Leniz Arquitectos Asociados completed the design for Ranco House, a modern residence with an original architecture located in Lago Ranco, Chile. Built around various native trees, the project is well adapted to its natural surroundings and makes the most of the privileged site. The house is composed of two volumes connected by a bridge, resulting in an intriguing overall exterior appearance. Shingles and wood were the main materials used, thus responding to the typical building language in this south part of Chile.

According to the architects, “the result is a mix between a typical southern barn and a contemporary house, taking care of the integration of interior and exterior, in which, like a tree house, the house takes a privileged position facing the landscape“. Showcasing an intimate and cozy feel, the interiors feature rustic details throughout. Wooden beams, ladders and highly original decorations make this a dreamy place of refuge from the worries of day to day life. Enjoy strolling through the photos and tell us if you enjoy the layout and overall design showcased by this home.
